Our New Teacher! |
|
Darlene
C. Christopherson has
been an accomplished quiltmaker since 1979 and
has had her work published in the books; More
Vertical Set Quilts with Style[AQS] by
Bobbie Aug & Sharon Newman. Sensational
Scrap Quilts by Darra Duffy Williamson,
Patchwork Portfolio by Jinny Beyer, Soft-Edge
Piecing by Jinny Beyer, Great American
Quilts Book 5 and Scrap Quilts fast
and fun by Oxmoor House.
Darlene
taught on the staff of the Jinny Beyer Hilton
Head Seminar for 5 years prior to moving from
northern Virginia to Sioux Falls, South Dakota
in 1992 and has been teaching and lecturing for
guilds and large events since about 1990. In 1997
she and her husband moved to China Spring, Texas
near Waco.
Darlene
teaches hand appliqué, piecing and quilting
as well as design classes. Fabric selection is
discussed in every class as the result of her
beautiful quilts. Attention and patient guidance
is given to all students. Years of experience
have developed time honored techniques and an
understanding of the elements of design and their
importance to quilt making.
Many
guilds have hosted Darlenes programs and
workshops. Darlene has contributed to the success
of many events such as the International Quilt
Festival in Houston, AQS in Paducah, and Nashville,
Quilt America! in Indianapolis, the Pennsylvania
Extravaganza in Ft. Washington, PA, Road to California,
Quilters Heritage Celebration in Lancaster,
Minnesota Quilter's Inc. Shows, the NQA Show,
Georgia Quilt Council and Quilt Colorado.

Your
First Quilt by
Maria Hrabovsky (March
1st) - If you have never made a quilt,
this class is for you. It will take you step
by step from the tools and fabrics you will
need right through to a finished, labelled,
machine-quilted, small quilt. Students will
choose the size of quilt they wish to make:
doll quilt, wall hanging, crib quilt, baby
quilt, or child size. Each students
quilt will be different from the others. The
only prerequisite for this class is knowing
how to use your sewing machine. More

Button, YOU'VE Got the Button!
by Eleanor Levie (March
1st) - We all know you've got a big
old jar or box--or maybe a treasure chest
chock-full of buttons. This class is sure
to unbutton and unleash your imagination
to think about buttons outside the boxand
onto quilts, and quilted accessories, and
wearables. After all, whether buttons are
functional or purely decorative, they're
the perfect accents for everything you make.

Apple
Blossoms Painting
by Vicki Johnson (March
22nd) - Make a small painting of a flowering
apple tree to use in a quilt, garment, wall
hanging or other small project. Instruction
for using fabric paint in each procedure
will be given along with a general description
of the type of fabric paint used. Everyone
should have a finished 9" x 9"
painting at the end of class. More

Basic
Celtic for Hand Applique
by Scarlett Rose (April
5th) - Learn an effective method for
making your own bias tape; with your choice
of fabric, your sewing machine and bias
bars. Take the first steps in learning how
to draw Celtic designs by using Scarlett's
new technique for creating knots - the Magic
Key series. This class also shows how to
hand appliqué for the right or left
handed. For the beginner, but with optional
suggestions for the intermediate and advanced,
who may be interested in learning what can
be done with designing your own Celtic knotwork.

Hunt! |
| CampusCop
(our chat bot) is going on an Egg Hunt.
When he finds an egg, he will tell everyone that
