The look of this project is similar to what you see thru a kaleidoscope but with scalloped edges. You want the background color, to have a strong contrast to all the other three colors. It is best *NOT* to use directional fabrics like stripes. For this project, it is best to use small print fabric. Use a fabric that you can recognize the printed pattern in a 3" square.

Supplies needed for top

Background: 2/3 yard
Color #1: 1/3 yard
Color #2: 1/4 yard or FQ
Color #3: 1/4 yard or FQ

  • 1" elongated hexagon (5)
  • 1" honeycomb (5)
  • 1" half square (50)
  • 2" half square (10)
  • 2" diamond (8 point) (45)
  • 1" square (25)
  • 2" square (20)

A plump 8th (11"x18") is half of a FQ (18"x22")
